Hero MotoCorp bikes now in Colombia

On November 28, 2014 Hero MotoCorp Ltd. made its debut in Bogota, Colombia by launching six of its best selling bikes in the country which will be available across the country in 120 dealerships. The company has announced its plan to expand this network to more than 150 dealerships within a year’s time. Hero MotoCorp Ltd has set a future target of 1.2 million units to be sold from their global business by the year 2020. The company has also set a bench mark in Colombia by becoming the first and only company to offer a 4-year warranty on all its models.

The models and their prices which have been launched in Colombia are as follows -- Splendor iSmart-COP 31,85,000 (INR 91,353), Eco Deluxe-COP 2750000 (INR-78,876), and Passion-Pro-COP 34,50,000 (INR-98,954), the 125cc Glamour-COP 36,90,000 (INR-1,05,837), the 150cc Hunk-COP 43,90,000 (INR-1,25,915) and the 225c Karizma ZMR-COP 65,90,000 (INR-1,89,016) – all prices are ex-showroom Bogota. The facility which has been developed in Cali is spread across a 17 acres while the initial installed capacity is at 78,000 units and is expected to go up to 1,50,000 units by 2017-18

In July this year Hero MotoCorp formed a wholly-owned subsidiary in Colombia and began construction of a new manufacturing facility in the country. The 100 pc subsidiary has been named HMCL Colombia SAS and has been incorporated in Cali. The cost of the project is approximately Rs. 434.5 crores and the company plans to invest another 235.8 crores in CAPEX for working capital requirements over the next three years.
